Breast Cancer Survivor Shared What Really Helped Her Heal

Janette Murray-Wakelin survived breast cancer, crediting raw food diet, meditation, physical activity and her own intuition. In the early 2000s, Janette was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, and doctors told her that she has only six months left, of course, with no guarantees.

Fortunately, within the very same six months, she received a clean bill of health and participated in hundreds of marathons in a year and two months. Yes, she succeeded to do all that in just a year.(1) (2)

She also adds that she was offered chemo, but as she says, “it didn’t make sense” to her. (1)

“I was already compromised, so why would I compromise myself further so I’d get another six months of being sick?” (1)

Rather than going for what she prefers to call a “very fear-driven” mindset that most doctors create in such conditions, she refused to do chemo and radiation and aimed to trying alternative methods that seemed a lot wiser and healthier to her. “Most people go with what their doctor says because they don’t realize that they can take responsibility and control themselves,” says Murray-Wakelin. Walking away from traditional cancer treatments

Without any hesitation, Janette refused traditional cancer treatments and wondered what could she do to make a difference. Enjoying a diet rich in high-nutrient, raw foods was the most convenient thing that came to her mind. (1)

The Australian resident was a vegetarian at the time she was diagnosed and she claims that it really helped her a lot, making her stronger in the fight against breast cancer and adaptable to juicing.

Fitness and health had always been Janette’s top interests. But, she claims that accidental exposure to chemical laden products and living in highly polluted areas were the root cause of her disease.(1)

Once she was diagnosed with breast cancer, Janette started a research on her own regarding chemo. Taking into consideration books and studies based on side effects and questionable results that accompany such treatments, she noted that,  “…the smaller the print got, the more it became obvious that this was not the thing to do.” (1)

Instead of doing as most people do, Janette did a research on the book The Breuss Cancer Cure, written by Rudolf Breuss and did a 42-day juice fast, following his recommendations. (1)

Breast cancer recovery — Healing foods

In her particular case, she consumed foods from the Brassicaceae family, including beet root, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts. (1) After 42 days, she started adding foods like carrots and green apples to the juices she was making.

As she says, wheat grass is also a must, because it aids in getting rid of dangerous cells. “Cancer cannot survive in an oxygenated environment, therefore the more oxygen I could pump into the body through exercise, conscious breathing and drinking wheat grass, the better,” Janette explains.(2) She added that the main idea was to starve her cancer, while giving her body nothing but good nutrients to keep its strength. Why does physical activity keep cancer at a bay?

Regarding fitness, her doctors told her to stop running. What? “So, the first thing I did,” she said laughing, “was increase my distance.” (1) Once again, she said that cancer cannot live in oxygenated environment, which is why she believed that she should be exercising more and not less.

How active was she?

In 2013, Janette and her husband ran 365 marathons for 365 days, or a year. (3) On January 1, 2014, they ran another marathon and set a new world record for the most consecutive marathon. Should we say that they were both in their sixties?

They both believe that their 100% raw vegan plant-based diet, faith in human kindness, natural healing and awareness of sustainability have helped them stay motivated. (3) Barefoot shoes are amazing, they added, and they are also helpful.

Janette said she had tons of energy and a “fantastic” feeling. (2)

“There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that consuming 100% raw food made a huge difference to my recovery time and to my overall healing,” she explains. (2) “My diagnosis of cancer and resulting journey to optimum health has been an experience I am truly grateful for. I know for certain that I will continue on the raw path, as I continue to experience more health benefits and an ever-increasing enlightened consciousness. Every day is exciting when you are raw!”
